Background about InspirAction

InspirAction is a Spanish NGO established in 2007 and is member of the Christian Aid Family (Christian Aid International). Inspiraction is respected NGO with a strong focus on advocacy and communications within the third sector in Spain.

With sister offices in numerous countries worldwide Christian Aid has over 70 years of experience working in overseas development. IA, as the Spanish arm of Christian Aid, counts on capacity and support from the whole organisation. The Spanish office has a small staff presence in Madrid which is reinforced by finance and technical staff based in London as well as country managers and locally based staff in the 40 countries where the organization works delivering results through civil society, government and private sector partnerships. The capacity InspirAction is particularly linked to CA offices in the Latin American and Caribbean region where they lead and support projects funded by institutional donors, such as the InterAmerican Develoment Bank or the EU, combining innovation with specialist skills, such as monitoring of project budgets and compliance. InspirAction has never been funded by any Spanish institution.

Consultancy objective

To identify restricted fundraising opportunities for IA in Spain/EU and inform a decision about whether IA should invest further in back donor fundraising: define fundraising opportunities and donors for IA based on IA priorities and areas of work – Analyse the likelihood of IA receiving funding given its size, focus and legal situation and context compared to other Spanish NGOs also looking for funding

Outputs

Detailed analysis of opportunities for IA:

• Public and private institutions in Spain
• European Commission opportunities
• Private institutions at the European Level

Prepare a draft fundraising strategy for IA to include the potential donor opportunities identified previously; potential calls and areas of interest (geographic and thematic) and capacity needed to fulfil this.

Scope

The consultant will work with members of staff internally within Christian Aid and IA to develop complete understanding of gaps in knowledge and information in eligibility for fundraising. The consultant will also contact external donor agencies and hold meetings and carry out desk based research to build up a full picture of fundraising priority areas and opportunities

IA will provide:

• Background and supporting documentation
• Introductions to key staff in CAI
• Desk space and internet connection in IA office in Madrid, if needed

What is desirable?

• Knowledge of the donor panorama in Spain and Europe
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Fundraising in the Spanish and European context
• Fluent in English

Duration

2/3 days a week for 6 weeks. Deadline for the delivery of the outputs will be agreed with the consultant once hired.

Fees

The cost of the consultancy will be 3.000 Euros including taxes. The payments will be:

• 40% at the signature of the contract.
• 60% at the delivery of the expected outputs.
